cultured

Its's really common that when you are having a walk or taking photos of the Pudong views some friendly chinese young people get close to you and start a nice chat.

They're not dangerous, in fact they are really kind. But it's well know that some of them are tourist seekers, looking for you to have a tea at some places in which you will pay a huge bill.

There are many economic franchised hotels in China, for example "Inn home如家",“7 days Inn", "Hanting Express汉庭", "Jinjiang Inn锦江之星", "Green Tree Inn格林豪泰"... These are national chain hotels so you can find almost every one in any city any zone in China. The prices are similar, like about 200 RMB/ Double Room and the rooms are clean, well decorated, with TV, air conditioner, 24hour hot water, and free wifi indoor. You can book them online for example in www.elong.com or www.ctrip.com.

Nanjinglu 南京路

recommendation by fang

party animalfresh & funky

Nanjinglu is a paradise for shopaholics. It's divided into two shopping streets- the east road and the west road, known as Nanjingdonglu and Nanjingxilu. Nanjingdonglu is a walking street and you'll find almost all the things you need there, from the most popular brands to lesser known ones. Nanjingxilu is covered by the supreme luxury brands. If you aren't careful with your credit card there, you may get burned:p
