Central Park is huge. It's 60 blocks long and 4 avenues wide so it takes a lot of time to walk through it without missing any spot of this great oasis in the middle of the skyscraper jungle.
So go to the Boathouse on the lake (77th street metro stop is the closest) and rent a bike. DO NOT rent them from the people outside the park. It’ll cost you like 9$ per hour (45$ the whole day). Then ride to the Diary to get a map and you’re good to go!

The location, cost, and service is nice. I'd happily rent here again.

If you’re amtraking and you travel with the Acela Express DO NOT MISS the magnificent view when leaving New York Penn station (to Boston). It’s breathtaking!
Everyone knows that the Empire State Building is a must visit in NYC but what most people don’t know is that The Top Of The Rock is much better. T.O.T.R. is a little less high but it gives you a view that you can’t get from the Empire State. It gives you a fantastic view of Manhattan, including Central Park and the Empire State Building.
Both cost 18$ and have great views but if you just want to do one, I strongly recommend you to choose Top of the Rock. See my pictures to judge for yourself.
