The Thangka, interpreted from the Tibetan pronouciation, refers to a kind of religious sacrifice scroll painting mounted on colorful satin. It’s a specific painting form of Tibet recording historic events, local culture, etc. called the “Tibetan encyclopedia”. Using natural minerals and vegetable dyes makes the colors vivid and sustained. You can see them in those aged temples, just like the frescoes in the Christian churches.
