Natural Reserve SOOS

natural

An area of 221 hectares includes a large peat-bog and swamps where a plethora of mineral springs and pure carbon dioxyde come out from the muddy volcanoes (the so-called mofettes). The path leads over the bottom of a dried lake. Nowadays one can find a really rare thing throughout Europe - gathered infusorial earth from the shells of the lake diatoms - sediments at the lake bottom. Many protected animals live there as well as many plants rooted in wet grounds grow in the nature reserve.
