If you're going to be in Scotland for more than a few days, get a National Historic Pass and/or National Trust membership. They give you free access to almost every important site in the country, and I believe they also give partial discounts in England as well. Google them for more info.

The List is a bi-weekly magazine detailing all the club nights, festivals, movies, etc. happening in Scotland. It mainly focuses on Glasgow and Edinburgh but includes other major towns, too. You can pick up a copy on the street or browse it online.
