Harpoon larry's oyster bar
Larry’s is probably the most popular seafood joint in the area. They offer a full oyster bar, but for non-adventurous eaters like myself, they’ve got a whole lot of other edibles from the sea to gorge down on. But my wife, who loves oysters, swears these are extra yummy. Apparently they’re packed full of protein. What’s best about Larry’s is that it’s sort of a dive bar. Which means the prices aren’t going to burn a hole in your pocket. I live in D.C. so cheap seafood is a rarity.
Sugar plum bakery
I know that “beach” and “baked goods” don’t sound like a pairing, but Sugar Plum and Virginia Beach are. This is the best place for treats in the area! Their most famous cake is called the Mozart. It’s delicious yellow cake, layered with raspberry filling and custard, topped with vanilla frosting and chocolate glaze. When you walk into this place your jaw will drop because there’s just so much to want! They’ve also got cookies, breakfast cakes, doughnuts, and breads, too.
Citrus
To this date I haven’t had a better breakfast. I am simply addicted to Citrus and represent that large crowd that harbors here on the weekends. That said, if you’re a new-comer or just plain starving, try and visit Citrus during off hours because they tend to get busy. I love chowing down on their breakfast sandwiches, smooshed between two warm, buttery, homemade rolls. Their she-crab soup is out of this world, creamy and devilish. The make amazing citrus mimosas too!
