Kanesville kollectables
Walking into this place is like going back in time to see some vinyl savant's collection. Which is pretty much exactly what it is; one man's record collection housed in a crummy old building. Owning perhaps the largest vinyl collection in the Midwest, Tim Behrens keeps albums from just about any genre on hand from obscure punk, to polka, to mainstream albums from the '70s (I once saw a stack of about 50 copies of ELO's Out of the Blue upstairs). Most copies are priced at merely a buck or two.
Homer's music & gifts
Talk about an institution; this record store has been around for ages. I can't remember an Omaha without it. Like most locally-owned music shops, this place is feeling the crunch. It's had to close a couple area shops and move out of the Old Market location it occupied for decades, but it still has the best selection of indie and mainstream music in town.
Drastic plastic
If you're a rock fan, this locally-owned Old Market record store has something for you - rare albums, posters, movies, T-shirts, pins. It's a musicians haven. The uber cool, super smart staff will be able to find just about any album you're looking for. If they don't have it in stock, they'll order it for you. And they produce the T-shirts themselves.
