Bethesa fountain
saved by 1 user - It's cool and freePopularity

This is one of the most, if not the most, famous landmarks on Central Park. It has appeared thousands of times in the movies and television and it’s a much visited area. The sight from there is gorgeous. I recommend you to get on the bridge beside it and take a view from there: you’ll see the fountain, the lake, the trees, the city on the background and the boathouse.

Belvedere castle
saved by 0 users - It's cool and freePopularity

One of the nicest spots at central park. The castle itself is made of rock and very rustic but the best thing is to climb to the observation deck and take a look of the park, the turtle pond and the city in the background. Breathtaking.

Flatiron building
saved by 2 users - It's cool and freePopularity

This is one of the most famous buildings in the city. Flatiron building was one of the first skyscrapers of New York and has several unique characteristics. The architecture has greek influences and it stands out from every building surrounding it.

You’ll notice by the pictures that Flatiron’s shape is quite rare. It was built to fill that spot left by the 5th avenue and Broadway Avenue when crossing.

Bow bridge
saved by 1 user - It's cool and freePopularity

This iron bridge is one of the most romantic and famous Central Park’s landmarks. A lot of romantic movies use it for their key scenes and now has become the love place at the park where couples go to take pictures and share moments of love ;)

It’s maybe hard to find but look at the middle of The Lake, the one near 73st.

Metropolitan museum of art
saved by 5 users - It's cool and cheapPopularity

The (MOMA) is one of the most amazing museums in the US that carries art from almost every surface of the earth. In every corner of this giant, living, breathing, hunk of a museum you will find thousands of various works and hundreds of themed collections. The admission is solely based on recommendations and you’ll want to bring comfortable shoes since standing and walking is a major part of the visit. It’s always packed so make sure you check your patience meter at the entrance.

Rudy's bar & grill
saved by 4 users - It's cool and cheapPopularity

Steely Dan fans will be familiar with the name of this Hell's Kitchen dive (it's in the opening verse of "Black Cow": "I saw you at Rudy's...you were very high." This place has some of the cheapest (and warmest) beer in this part of the city. And hot dogs are on the house. The bartender is probably older than your grandparents, and sadly, he old jazz-filled jukebox has been replaced with one of those new digital ones. You'll wanna get there soon before the city closes it's renowned patio.

Williamsburg bridge - east river park
saved by 5 users - It's cool and freePopularity

This is certainly not a common place to visit in NY. If you have just a few days in the city, don’t bother. If you have plenty of time, you can just walk through mid-east Manhattan until you reach the East River Park.

You’ll find nice seal-shaped fountains decorating a plaza that emulates an ocean. You’ll probably make some squirrel friends if you have cookies. They are everything but shy.

And you can also enjoy the view of Williamsburg Bridge and the east river.

Battery park
saved by 4 users - It's cool and freePopularity

This green area in the south end of Manhattan is a great place to take a rest enjoying the harbour views. You can also enjoy open-air concerts or visit several memorials or the Castle Clinton National Memorial.

The most interesting thing is the ferries. You can take the free Staten Island Ferry, which I recommend, and the Ellis Island Ferry (the one that takes you to the Liberty Statue too).
