Looking for accomodation & job

When I went to London my very first time to find accomodation we used the Loot paper but it had a problem, the best apartments usually were rent before 10 am so you have to be an early riser one. Then talking to people they recommend me this site:

http://www.gumtree.com/

and I discovered this other

Gatwick airport

Gatwick is the perfect airport if you're going to South London.

Here are some tips:

- Long line at security? Try the security gate on the 2nd floor.
- Long Trip? You can have a shower upstairs (towels are extra)
- Visiting London for a while? You can buy a local SIM card for your mobile from a vending machine next to the toilet on the first floor, near arrivals.
-Gatwick Express: Takes 25% less time, Costs 120% more! (Southern Rail is a better option unless in a great hurry).

How to find your way around london
saved by 10 users - It's freePopularity

The post codes in the United Kingdom are quite particular in that a post code like SW7 4AN is so precise it identifies a building: One should read it as:

SW: South West of London, Area 7 of the South West and 4AN identifies a house or a building.

On road/street signs of London you will find the initials WC (west central), EC (East Central), E (east), W (west), SW (south west), SE (south east), N (North), NW (North West) which will help you find you way around.

Most museums don't cost a penny

You can enjoy all the great museums in London for free. (for example The Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert, Science Museum, The British Museum, The Tate Modern, The National Portrait Gallery, The National Gallery and many more).

Museums are funded by taxes, private donors and philanthropists (and it's also possible to leave a few coins as a small donation at the museum).

Buying meat at new covent garden
saved by 7 users - It's freePopularity

If you want to buy a good amount of meat for a good price in London try new covent garden market on a Sunday.

Thorne & Sons are a hybrid between auction, showmen and butchers. With a microphone, and tens of kilograms of meat they will sell you £20 of meat. Get there early and look undecided as they offer you some ribs, saussages, rib-eye, lamb, chops, etc ... the whole package for only £20. Be prepared to freeze or to have a big BBQ.

The phoenix garden
saved by 14 users - It's freePopularity

Behind the junction of Charing Cross Road and Shaftesbury Avenue lies a secret garden very few people know about
If you're tired of London's noise, traffic and busy streets around Tottenham court road, here's a place to escape for a while and enjoy some beautiful flowers, trees, a pond and a quiet patch of grass.
It's maintained by volunteers and it's one of the few community gardens left in the very center of London.

Get an oyster
saved by 14 users - It's fairPopularity

Is the cheapest way to use the expensive public transport of London.

You can get the Oyster in whatever Underground station you want. I got mine on Paddington Station, you only have to pay a fixed quantity of money as security deposit and then charge the money you want.

By the way I think that they charge you the minimun fare for the travel you just did, and that is superb!
