The golden hind
in Highlights
A replica of Francis Drake's Golden Hind can be visited on St Mary Overie Dock. The boat has actually sailed 140.000 miles and If traveling with children you can have "pirate fun day!".
These can include educational tours with crew in costumes, dinners on the boat, story telling and even sleepovers.
A good view of London from the Stern too!

If you like architecture this is a treat from Fosters & Partners engineered by Arup.
You can visit some of it Mondays to Thursdays from 8.30am to 6pm, Fridays from 8.30am to 5.30pm. One cool thing to see is the London Photomat (a picture of the whole of London you can walk on and explore) and the art exhibitions.
Two days a year you can see the whole building (check website for dates). Otherwise, weather permitting, you can have a sandwich at the Scoop (a nice amphitheatre outside)

Great restaurant! which I loved the most is that they bring the ingredients from independent farmers and fisher and the menu is quite different from what we ate in London. I also loved the beautiful photographs, taken all over the world by journalists, hung on the walls.

The albert pub
in Eating & Drinking
This pub is a survivor. Stranded between high rise buildings, in the middle of Victoria Street it hasn't lost its charm. Close to Victoria, Westminster or Scotland Yard ... it's a good place to have a rest or a pint.
Recommended is the afternoon tea: A 3 level tray of sandwiches, scones, cream and teas. (breakfast is not that impressive, though)

Very original tiny pub built in 1720. Charles Dickens describes this pub saying "In its whole constitution it had not a straight floor, and hardly a straight line". And indeed this thin building conserves those old traits.
Upstairs there's a seafood and fresh fish restaurant. Delicious! (but book in advance!) Downstairs, good beer, a couple of tables, simpler food and a tiny terrace overlooking the Thames. Trully authentic.
The easiest way to get there is Limehouse DLR or car.
