Stamps galore!
There's a long tradition about stamps in whole Asia. They have been used in official documents for centuries and are still in use today, even more frequently than signs, and everybody has their own personal stamp. Nowadays you can find them used not only in official papers, but also as reminders for the visitors on virtually any museum or historic building. Some really original ones can be purchased in souvenir shops.
So, don't forget your notebook to colect them all!!
Receipts are lottery tickets!
As you read it. Don't throw out your receipts! They are actually lottery tickets with a number on them. Each two months the government does a lot and displays the uniform-invoice winning numbers on a website. It's a funny way to fight the tax fraud. If you are not interested on the prize, you should put them into the plastic boxes you'll find in every convenience store and most of the shops. The money earn by those tickets will be used in social campaings.
Mtv - 電影館
The MTVs are one of the most interesting places I found in Taipei. I don't know if there is something similar in other countries, but I've never seen them before I came here. It's something like a "video-club meets mini-cinema" where you can rent the latest DVD releases or the immortal classic to watch them "in situ", in rooms for 2, 4 or 12 people with real cinema screens.
The price is really good, like a normal video rental shop, and you can order a good variety of food and drinks.
