Shopping in Taipei

Fantastic toys store located just beside Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT, exit 8. They've got a large collection, including movie, manga, anime and superheroes related toys, as well as be@rbricks and other designers toys. Good prices and amazing sales. Dangerous for your wallet!

Pizza Cut Five is the most famous Taiwanese T-shirts brand. They offer good design and quality tees with a very original marketing concept. A pizza delivering crossover with the name and style of the Japanese band Pizzicato Five. You can go to one of their boutiques to buy your new tee or order it by phone (and internet) and recieve it at home in a pizza delivery box!

Their most remarkable designs are those of Chang's face versions made in collaboration with the Formosa Chang restaurants.

As in many cities around the World, most records stores have closed in Taipei. One of the few still standing is White Wabbit Records, specialized in Taiwanese and foreign indie bands. Their headquarters is located inside The Wall (live house), but they've just opened a new store in Shida area.

White Wabbit is not only a records store, but also a record label that releases many foreign indie bands in Taiwan.

There are several outlets of Eslite in Taipei, but its flagship is definitely the one located at the Renai Traffic Circle. A bookstore opened 24 hours (actually the first in the world) where you are welcome to browse, but also to read comfortably as long as you want. They offer one of the best catalogues, not only in Chinese and Japanese, but also in English.

As a plus, in the B2 of the same building you'll find the best record shop in the city. Well... there are no many good CD shops left.

I love this store and graphic design studio located inside the Red House Theater (Ximen) that uses the famous betelnuts as their brand. They use famous and cute pop culture icons, as well as the betelnuts beauties phenomenom itself, to make fantastic and irreverent designs.

The Eslite branch located in Xinyi district is the newest and biggest one in the city. The bookstore, the largest in the country with more than a million books, occupies three of the six floors of this huge shopping mall, where you can also find fantastic toys, design, clothes stores and restaurants.

Really cute and cool second hand books and CDs store located at Yongkang Street. They also sell posters, DVDs and retro stuff.

If you like antiques, the best place to spend a good time looking around is the Yongkang street intersection with Chaojhou street. There's a lot of Chinese antiques shops, but also others that sell very cool 50's and 60's stuff.
