Plaza mayor (great square)
It's the center and treasure of the golden city. The living room of Salamanca since it was design in the XVIII century by Alberto and Nicolás Churriguera. Over the centuries it has been the scene of bullfighting, concerts and even trials. Nowadays it's the most famous meeting spot (mainly under the clock), scene of a great variety of shows and events, and holds the City Hall and some of the most traditional coffe shops in the city (Novelty, Cervantes...)

Old and new cathedrals
Salamanca has nor one but two Cathedrals, blend with each other in front of Anaya Square. The Old Cathedral was built between the XII and XIV centuries in Romanesque and Gothic styles. Its Torre del Gallo (Cock Tower) is the most beautiful part. The New Cathedral was built between the XVI and XVIII centuries in two styles: Gothic and Baroque, but keeping more of the Gothic style.

Víctor
An old tradition of the University of Salamanca, which still survives, says that every student who obtains the doctor's degree deserves to see his/her name painted under the word "Víctor", the latin voice for "winner". So, in every university building of the city, you'll find many of this curious old style graffiti.
Roman bridge
There are no many Roman ruins left in this city that was known as Salmantica (Helmantica) within the Roman Empire. The most important and a symbol of the city is the Roman bridge built in the I century as a part of the "Vía de la Plata" (Route of the Silver) connecting the Roman cities of Emerita Augusta (Mérida) and Cesar Augusta (Zaragoza).
In its exit is located the "Verraco", a Celtiberian decapitated boar totem which appears in the classic book "El lazarillo de Tormes" (published in 1554).
