Lisboa card
This is the best thing you can buy when you get to Lisbon! For €33,50, you get 2 cards, one for transports and one for discounts. The transports is a free pass on all tram, bus, metro and train lines. The discounts gives free or discounted access to most museums and exhibitions, and also discounts in some shops. You also get a map and a guide. A complete kit to get to know Lisbon very well!
I lived in Lisbon for 20 years and got the Lisboa Card, and was pleasantly surprised!

I joined their bike tour in Lisbon and had a fantastic time biking with them. They showed how easy is to bike and also gave suggestions of things to do in the Lisbon.
Then decided to rent a bike and followed their advice of spending a day in the beach and was fast and easy to get there by bike and had a great day outside of Lisbon.
Either renting a bike or going on a tour you'll surely have a great time. I know I did!
One-day trip to beaches
If you need to scape from the city for a few hours, go the the area around National Park of Arrabida. The seaside is breathtaking over there. It won´t take you more than one hour and it is definitely better that any other beaches closer to Lisbon. A nice tip is to go to Portinho de Arrabida, a beautiful bay with just a couple of restaurants where you can have a delicious lunch.

Taking the tramcars is a typical and must do thing at Lisbon. Both these routes are very recommendable. The first one takes you from downtown to Belem, so you’ll probably take it anyways… but not everyone takes the 28th route. This one will take you to all great places downtown. First do the whole route and then stop in the places you liked ;)
