Zoológico de cali
It has more than 185 species and a wide variety of butterflies. It also has an aquarium, the only one in Colombia.
There is a 180 year old turtle! his name is "Carlitos".
You must visit the bats, owls... there is a walk called "Magic in the woods" where you will see or rather hear animals in the dark.
A walk by paseo bolivar.
As you walk by the boulevard of river Cali, between the "Ortiz bridge" and "Avenida sexta" (Sixth Avenue) you will pass several places of interest like the Municipal Administrative Centre, Jorge Isaacs' monument (very important poet and writer born in Cali),the statue of Simón Bolivar (Colombia's fighter for its independance from Spain).
As you pass carrera tercera, you must stop at the "Empanadas el Obelisco" and try them. It's a must if you want to taste the moist delicious empanadas!
Here you can appreciate a very important sample of ceramics that belong to diverse pre-Columbian cultures such as Calima, Nariño, Quimbaya, San Agustín, Tierradentro, Tolima and Tumaco. It was declared a national monument in 1979. Talks and conferences are also offered in specific times and days so do check out beforehand.
This museum is surrounded by lots of green areas. The exhibitions are about different historic periods as well as creations of great inventors which to me was of a lot of interest.There is also an exhibiton room with pieces of art of artists from around the world as well as from different periods.
It's an enormous "garden"! 59 hectars which include sports fields, gyms in the open air, fast food restaurants, and a fishing lake. There is also a swimming pool and a castle.
You must go by car. There are parking lots there.
This bull ring has the shape of a wine glass. It's one of the most beautiful and important ones in South América and as well as for its obvious use, musical events also take place here.
Plazoleta del barrio san antonio
Very romantic, boheme, a neighbourghood with artists of diverse disciplines, painters, singers, actors, puppeteers, poets and handcraft creators. You can have a good view of Cali from up there.
There are religious paintings that belong to the XVI and XVII century, by Saint Barbara, San Gregorio and San Jerónimo. There is a crucifix carved in wood to be admired, and a number of sacred objects. The museum is really worth a visit. There are also guided tours, and the price is very cheap.
