Bogotá.
Country Calling Code:
0057
Money:
Official currency is the fluctuating Colombian peso. 1 € = 3.000 pesos; 1 USD= 2.200 pesos. It’s better to exchange currency at a Change Bureau, as not all banks offer this service and those who do, do it only in their principal branch offices and with a lot of annoying formalities. There are plenty of ATMs at the foremost cities and even in some smaller towns.
Health & safety:
It’s advisable to get information about which areas are safe for travel and if you plan on driving you better stick to the daytime.
As far as personal safety is concerned, as in all of South America, it’s better to avoid any ostentation and proceed with some cautiousness (particularly at night).
When to go:
Colombia doesn’t have four seasons but a rainy season and a dry one, which can vary between zones due to its great territorial expansion and different thermal stages.
High season matches the Colombian holidays, which are like the European ones but backwards: one month in July and "summer" from December to February.
Population:
42 million people.
Language:
The official language is Spanish (the richest in the world), although there are 66 more languages in.
Religion:
Catholic, although cults are proliferating.
