This sculpture garden is one of the best-kept secrets outside of Manhattan. This 168-acre modern art sculpture garden can easily keep you occupied for an hour or two. It features over 45 sculptures by some very well known 20th century artists as well as some beautifully maintained trees, ponds and foliage. The garden is actually located on the Pepsi Cola headquarters grounds so if you’re in town for that, then I stress you must come visit here.
Things to do
This is a great and unfortunately overlooked gallery just across the street from the Kendall Sculpture Gardens. Their five gallery rooms showcase an array of contemporary art and their permanent collection features some pretty recognizable names like O’Keefe, Hopper, Rothko, and Pollack. It’s only $5 to enter and free if you’re a Purchase student. And if you’re not a student you can grab one of their “NeuGuides,” free information packets designed for classroom discussions.
This old 1920’s Italian mansion has an elegant look with equally attractive hospitality. The caretakers here were so sweet and cordial to us during our stay here that we swore we’d return. Every room is uniquely and impeccably decorated with little charms here and there. The kitchen staple is their warm banana nut bread that they’ll put out for you in the afternoon. So if you’re visiting your daughter at the nearby Sarah Lawrence I’d definitely recommend staying here.
