Attempting to do bowling and drinking in Chicago is fun for about one game. If you actually want to get decently smashed and bowl plan to spend a month’s rent. That’s why we go out to Waukegan for this sort of activity. This place has a very gritty bar inside it that reminds me a lot of places I used to frequent in Milwaukee. Everyone working here is really relaxed and will shoot the crap with you happily. So grab a designated driver, put on some clown shoes, and have a good time.

Our family rented a charter boat here once and had an excellent time out on Lake Michigan. Apparently this place is the “freshwater salmon capital of the world” which rings true because our lot captured a good many of them. We did a salmon and perch combo fishing charter with Captain “Bubba” on a really handsome charter boat. He was a real treat and extremely helpful. Whether you’re new to fishing or an old pro, it’s definitely a change of pace for land-locked folk.
