At 5 km from Puerto Murta leads to Lake General Carrera, owned by Argentina (call it Lago Buenos Aires) and Chile. The largest urban center is Chile Chico. Puerto Ibáñez header ago (there is a ferry connecting the two locations in a nice walk). To Argentina, the lake shore is flat, while the Chilean low mountains arise, sometimes very steep, rock alive rounded by glacial activity and no vegetation. The dark blue lake contrasts with the emerald green bays. A lonely landscape, hard, overwhelming.
