The former Taipei City Hall where the Japanese governor signed the surrender in 1945, is nowadays home to the Taipei Chinese Orchestra, and its plaza is a stage for productions and the land of skaters on regular days. It was built by the Japanese in mid 1930's and renovated in 2001. It is one of those Japanese architectural experiments. Some highlights include its decorative elements such as the Hispano-Moorish inspired windows in the front.
