The main rail station was moved to its current location in 1901 and then rebuilt in 1940. The interesting thing it's that the station building hides the Taipei Underground Mall. A whole city under the city that runs east-west until Zhongshan MRT station in Nanjing West Road area, including tons of shops of every kind.
