If you're coming from Uyuni, La Paz or Potosi, you will be thankful to be in Sucre and descending a thousand meters (it's at around 3,000m above sea level). Breathing is less difficult, it's less cold and the city, listed as a World Cultural Heritage site, invites you to walk by its colonial houses on cobblestone streets, to explore its markets and historical buildings. Most buildings are whitewashed, and so Sucre is also known as the White City.
