Every morning boats gather for traders to sell fruits and vegetables. It is a spectacle to see them shouting prices passing the vegetables from one boat to another. You can rent a shikara in your houseboat or in one of the travel agencies in the streets.
Things to do
is the smallest of the three Mughal gardens of Kashmir. it was built by the emperor Sha Yahan in 1632. The garden is quite famous for spring of energizing digestive mineral water inside it. Even Indira Gandhi ordered to bring her water from the garden charged in helicopters.
Pari Mahal in Srinagar was at a time a Buddhist monastery with a beautifully laid out garden which was later converted to a school of astrology. It was founded by Dara Shiko the eldest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Yahan's for his Sufi teacher, Mulla Shah. Nowadays is just a nice place to get good views of Leh. Srinagar people say that in the night is quite scary be here because is ful of fairys singing songs.
Located in a huge hilltop is a sacred place for Hindus to have a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, but in turn is also holy to Muslims because it is where Solomon, the prophet had his throne. For us is a very good view of Srinagar by both sides. You'll enjoy the Jhelum view and both lakes, nageen and Dal.
Srinagar was the summer capital during the english period. When they lost the power and Raja took it, he will not let them build on land, this is why the english built large house boats. Even now, the two lakes are full of them. It is a gret experience. If you want more luxury, choose one in Dal Lake, if you prefer something cheaper go to Nageen Lake.
