At the center of the Old City is the Chenghuang Temple and the Yu Garden. The Bridge of Nine Turns zigzags to make it difficult for evil spirits to get across (since, it is well known, evil spirits have problems with corners!!). The Yu Garden is a classical Chinese garden with over 30 pavilions linked by a maze of corridors and bridges over ponds.
Opening Hours: 08:30 to 17:00

The Yu Garden is well worth a visit if you are in Shanghai. It is a beautiful maze of gardens, paths, bridges and ponds and so peaceful yet the busy hussle of Shanghai is just outside. I recommend having tea, the proper chinese way, before you leave also!
