At the center of the Old City is the Chenghuang Temple and the Yu Garden. The Bridge of Nine Turns zigzags to make it difficult for evil spirits to get across (since, it is well known, evil spirits have problems with corners!!). The Yu Garden is a classical Chinese garden with over 30 pavilions linked by a maze of corridors and bridges over ponds.
Opening Hours: 08:30 to 17:00
Admission Fee: CNY 40

ERA Space-time travel

recommendation by fang

fresh & funkycultured

ERA Space-time travel is a multi-media dreamlike play takes place all the year in Shanghai circus house. It uses the special art elements of Jiangnan region, and combines Chinese acrobatics, music, live band, dance and Wushu, etc. The space-time intercrossing is its technique of expression... I bet it'll be pretty impressive to you guys.

A magic view you don't want to miss. From the Huangpu riverside, opposite to "Puxi" the west side of Shanghai is this new area of the city.
An incredible skyline with less than 10 years old. This financial and business center contains some of the world wide most admired skyscrapers.
A really nice view of the city, both during the day and at night.

Longhua Temple

recommendation by brina

cultured

The Longhuah Temple is the biggest Temple in Shanghai. In the Three Sage Hall, three incarnations of the Buddha sit beneath a swirled red and gold dome.Along the side corridors is a room filled with 500 small golden statues of arhats, each of them with a different face. For me the most impressive room at the temple.
The temple compound includes a popular vegetarian restaurant (open 11am-2pm).

It is open to the public for a fee (10 RMB).There's no Metro near the Temple, take a Taxi ;)
