Mission San Francisco de Solano

ADD TO MY TRIP

Founded in 1823 - the last of the 21 California missions and this northernmost site was originally a sub-mission for the recently promoted mission of San Rafael. The priests at the mission grew grapes and made wine, predecessors to the famous Sonoma and Napa Valley wines. It now belongs to the Sonoma State Park, unfortunately not much remains of the original buildings, but there is an interesting museum.
