This Spanish mission was built in 1776, on of the first 10 of the 21 built in half a century on the Californian coast. The highlights of this mission are it's baroque chapel and the colorful gardens which are filled with birds.

Entry is $9 for adults.

Known as the Jewel of the Missions. The church ruins were surrounded by scaffolding for years. They have now come down. The gardens in this mission are beautiful.

While you are there go west of the Railroad tracks and visit old San Juan Capistrano. There are some very quaint cottages on this side. There is also a petting zool
Great little area.
