World Famous Zoo. Is not that I have visited many zoos around the world but I am sure this is the best. Not only they have an enormous variety of species, but the way everything is set you can see that they are very concern with the well being of the animals. None of them are exposed in cages. They try recreate their environment
Everything surrounding the zoo and it's activities are oriented to environment and animal protection awareness.
Things to do
This Pacific Beach bar suits just about any crowd; chill day drinkers, belly-up at the bar drunks, or late night clubbers. The legendary beer garden sits at the intersection of Garnett Ave. and Mission Blvd., so it attracts its fair share of tourists. But it's still got a local vibe at heart
This tiny beach shack is a Pacific Beach institution. Located directly on the beach walk, it's perfect for people watching. The food's solid and pretty much everything's surprisingly cheap, but beware; the staff is known to have an attitude problem. And they don't take credit cards.
The oldest mission and church in California, founded in 1769 by the Franciscan Junipero Serra. The church that you see now was built in 1812 and has been remodeled and fixed up since then, and some of the old style of the mission seems to have gotten lost somewhere along the way, but it's still quite interesting and a quick visit for those interested in California's Spanish history.
Known as the "Smithsonian of the West Coast" the park has over 15 museums and gallerys in the park. Only one has free admission. This is one of the oldest urban parks in the US and it is a stand out. Beautiful buildings and wonderful museums. There is always something going on in the park. Most museums are open from 9:30 am to 5 pm. See the Botanical building, one of the oldest wood lath structures in the U.S. Well worth a visit.
