A group of us did a whitewater rafting trip here and I can’t wait to go back. You go out with a professional so you don’t feel entirely unsafe. They’ll prep you for about an hour beforehand about paddling techniques and what to expect. The course was rough but not impossible to navigate. This is not for the faint at heart! They’ve also got zip lines, kayaking, bicycling, and hiking activities available here. If you’re not into sports there’s plenty of open space for picnicking, etc.
Things to do
This is my favorite hiking spot in all of the Poconos. The park is located on top of a very steep mountaintop. So you should expect the trails to be equally steep and challenging. You don’t have to be a pro-hiker to do these trails, but you should be in some sort of shape. I like it here because the trails are really scenic and you’re constantly seeing something new. I believe the park covers about nine miles of trails.
These falls have been referred to as “The Niagara of Pennsylvania.” Bushkill has eight waterfalls that are surrounded by trees, deep in the Poconos Mountains. I love to come up here for hiking because the trails provide great views of the falls. They’ve got a ton of information and maps available to hikers so be sure to pick that up if you go. Additionally they’ve set up a lot of touristy activities. This includes a miniature golf course, paddleboat rides, a fudge kitchen, and a souvenir shop.
