Several businesses offer tours for snorkeling or diving. The Dive Pemba, near the Casino, has a swimming pool and instructors for baptism. The dives are usually off the beach Wimbi. Coral is somewhat damaged, but it is a beautiful experience. Snorkel around 12 euros and 40 euros diving.
Things to do
Two kilometers from the town center, is the area encompasses the entire tourist offer of the city. A beautiful beach with white sand and coconut trees, a few restaurants to enjoy good food and drink a cold beer and a transparent blue sea. A good place to relax.
A quiet stroll through the old part of Pemba, where there are located the buildings of the former Portuguese colony. Great views of the vast bay and architectural remains of a port that still remains, though somewhat languid. There are restaurants all along the way.
The white plaster muzziro is that women are put on the face as makeup, for treating the skin, remove seeds from the face or relieve fevers. It comes from a root (called muzziro) that is rubbed against a stone, mix with water and left the night before the layer applied to the face. The result is a spectacular contrast of ghostly white faces on black ebony. You'll see it along the coast, especially in the fishing villages, like in Paquitequete.
Paquitequete is the traditional district of Pemba, a small fishing village with its narrow streets on the white sand. In the far west of the city and overlooking the great bay, the third largest in the world. On a visit in the early hours of the morning we discovered their mosque, school and life around the beach that serves as the port and market. A very interesting place caught in time, with a strong Muslim influence. A good place to enjoy the hospitality of the locals. Do not walk after dark
