Columbus Park is the only real park in Chinatown. Sit & enjoy the scene: old men playing mahjong, kungfu dudes, the occasional concert, etc. I loved grabbing some food to go at Deluxe Food Market and then sitting on the ledge of the pavilion to take in the scene below. It's a great lunch idea for about $4.
Things to do
Why is it that Brazilians host amazing parties?? Go to Nublu on Wednesday nights (Brazil Night) to find out what I'm talking about... a sweaty dancey ridiculously good time powered by great live music and/or fantastic DJs. This place is both a record label and music venue that is run by Brazilians. I always have a great time when I go there. It's definitely one of those places actually worth the cover charge. Look for the blue lightbulb ;-)
A huge space offering Foosball, ping pong, billards, live jazz (!) and lots and lots of PBR (amongst many other kinds of beer). Get there early (on weekends) and commandeer a couch/corner.
This place is definitely a decent way to spend a Friday night & PERFECT for large groups.
This bar is the venue for Louder Arts poetry night on Mondays. The energy is fantastic when the poets get on stage! I have seen some very talented poets there. And the drinks are reasonably priced too. Check them out!
Best place to see cutting edge theatre, dance and live performance in NYC.
