Monumento de las cinco águilas blancas (Five eagles' monument)

ADD TO MY TRIP

These are 5 imposing eagles that represent an indian legend. The legend says that the beautiful indian woman Caribay wanted to catch them to make ornaments with their feathers. When each one of them stood on top of a peak of the Mérida mountains, Caribay realised they were frozen as she aproached them to catch them. They woke up and angry as they were, they shook their wings, and covered the mountains with their beautiful white feathers, giving birth to the snow-capped mountains.
