Marseille consists of several smaller villages, one of which is l’Estaque. This small fishing district has beautiful views, and walking around here for a day is worth it! Many impressionists and post-impressionists spent time living and working in this district, most notably Paul Cézanne. While here, it's crucial to stop at a small stand to buy a dozen panisse discs. Panisse are chickpeas that are ‘mashed’ together, rolled into a log, sliced into discs, & fried in olive oil. Best when eaten hot!
