Behind some hidden doors in the old patrt of the city you can find the traboules. Traboules is the French word for the passageways than silk workers used in ancient times to link different zones of the city. Today, they are part of the Unesco Heritage; they are charming cause they are almost invisible. Image: www.digitaljournal.com
Things to do
It could be in the Eating-Drinking category but I think this market is an actual Lyon highlight. This place confirms the fact that Lyon is the capital of the current French gastronomy. You can buy from soups to foie in a incredibly cool and local atmosphere. Save some of your time to visit this exhilariting place.
If you love cinema you already know that Lumiére brothers were born in Lyon. Therefore, the city has devoted a really cool place to the inventors of the cinema. It is a vibrant place where you can even see the location of the first movies they shot, more than 100 years ago ( Hangar du Premiere Film) . Not to be missed.
This is the fanciest area in town. It used to be a workers neighborhood ( la colliine qui travaille) but gentrification has arrived and art galleries, nice boutiques and restarants are opening here. Your people have also moved to this historical part of Lyon. Its narrow streets, slopes and traboules are charming. It has a splendid view over the city
It is part of the sites listed by Unesco Heritage, so, it has to be good. This belongs to the big family of classical Fine Arts Museum, but it doesn´t mean it is an outdated place. Not at all. It shows the big masters ( Picasso, Bacon, Matisse and friends), of course. Exhibitions are great, building is impressive and restaurant is located in a nice yard.
