If you like outdoors, rivers or engineering works, you can visit the impressive Thames Barrier. This massive barrier prevents the strong surges of the tide from flooding London and is used increasingly due to climate change.
From Central London (Westminster) you can get a boat to barrier gardens pier. Also tube+DLR (Dockland Light Railway) to Pontoon Dock, or bus 474. If you go there don't forget to visit the Thames Barrier Park.
