This minimalist art installation by Walter de Maria in western New Mexico is a field of lightning rods, in the lightning rich high desert. In order to visit the field, which is on private property, you have to make a reservation to stay overnight in a cabin not to far from the field. Whether it rains and you get the conditions for lightning is left to chance, but it's beautiful and interesting either way. The price includes meals and boarding.
