This is one of the two viewpoints I liked the most. Obiously, the towers of the castles don’t count :P This one gives you a great view of the Alfama’s neighborhood and the Santa Engracia church with the river in the background. It’s a beautiful panoramic view of the city.
Things to do
I like natural science museums and aquariums. For aquariums it’s hard to find new things so it’s great when you find different animals. Lisbon’s Oceanographic has several interesting things for a very fair price.
No trip to Lisboa can be called a success
without a pilgrimage to Belem. Belem is where the Age of Discovery began. Ships commanded by the likes of Vasco da Gama and Henry the Navigator set their sails here returning with tales of adventure, bloodshed and riches. Discovering a sea route to India Gama helped aide in Portugal´s rise to one of the world´s greatest empires.
A free walking tour of Lisbon. The guide is a seriously funny guy with a huge heart for Lisbon. He knows everything anyone needs to know about this city. His tours can vary from retro street art to historical banter of the ageless city. It is a free tour but, I gave him four euros for tip. He really deserved it. I saw and learned things that opened my eyes to Lisbon. Meet him at 11 in the morning or 5 in the afternoon at the plaza near metro Baixa-Chiado.
