It is a church/basilica/collegiate from the 10th Century. Inside it, it's placed the funeral chapel of the kings of León, that it is one of the outstanding examples of surviving Romanesque art in León
Sweet Jesus does this bar have a good sopa de ajo! With every drink they serve you either patatas bravas or sopa de ajo. They are both really amazing. The bravas are a kind of fried potato in a spicy sauce but these ones are not made like the ones in Madrid, instead they are a bit more garlicky and with chile flakes instead of red sauce, they're outrageously delicious. Sopa de ajo is a light broth soup with lots of Spanish paprika, garlic, and a little bit of soggy bread - killer!
Santa María de León Cathedral, also called The House of Light or the Pulchra Leonina. It was declared of Cultural Interest in 1844. It is a masterpiece of the Gothic style dominating the mid 13th century. There, you can admire the best stained glass windows among all the cathedrals in Spain. It's the main not-to-be-missed monument in the city.
Genarín was one of the most eccentric characters in the history of León. He was a bohemian, pleasure seeker and liquor lover, killed by the first rubbish truck in the city, which run over him when he was, drunken, having a shit in the street
Every Maundy Thursday thousands of people commemorate his life and death with a funeral procession, consisting of a march through the city while drinking alcohol. Despite of the gloomy sounding of all this, it's a really very funny (and alcoholic) "party"
