Lamayuru is one of the most impressive monasteries throughout Ladakh.
Situated on the Srinagar - Kargil - Leh road 15 km east of the Fotu La, at a height of 3,510 m.
Is attributed to the famous monk Rinchen Zangpo who build it in the 10th century being one of the oldest gompas in Ladakh. It is impressive for its location in the middle of the moon land. enjoy it for a few days, is a good stop before cross to kargil.
