You would't think it but in the heart of Las Vegas there is a pond in the Silverton Casino and in that pond there is MERMAIDS. Real live Mermaids swimming and smiling and waving and all ever so happy to see you when ever you go there. Bring a kid, your own of course and take some photo's !! Maybe have a drink before hand !!

Hoover Dam

recommendation by goose

This massive dam, built in 1936 on the Colorado River, creates Lake Mead and generates the power for Las Vegas, which you won’t be surprised to hear is a whole hell of a lot (on the drive from Las Vegas to the Hoover Dam you can watch the power lines as they grow bigger and bigger). It is hard to imagine how beautiful this big Black Canyon would have been before it got filled with concrete, but remember this is downstream on the same river that formed the Grand Canyon.

Having trouble affording that vacation to Paris? Don't fret. At least you can say you’ve been to the top deck of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas. For $10 you can take a quick and very packed elevator ride to the top for an amazing view of the skyline and strip. The price can be a little expensive so be on the lookout for 2-for-1 coupons. If you manage to push everyone out of your way you'll have a great view of the Bellagio fountain show.

Tropicana

recommendation by adriii

This is is the last strip hotel built in the 50s that is left in Las Vegas. It's one of the fanciest and most expensive ones in the area and has been a filming location for several movies.
In The Godfather, when Michael goes to Las Vegas, it was shot at Tropicana. It was also the location for the “Folies Bergere” number in the Elvis Presley film Viva Las Vegas.
