The Rokuon-ji (鹿苑寺 - Deers GardenTemple) is better known as Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺 - Golden Pavilion Temple) because of its golden walls. It was built in 1397 by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and converted into a Zen temple by his son later. It's sorrounded by beautiful gardens and stands beside a great lake. The complex includes also a traditional tea house and other small and curious spots.
