It is one of the oldest buildings in KL. The construction began in 1893. Some 4 million bricks, 2,500 barrels of cement, 18,000 pikuls of lime, 5,000 pounds of copper, 50 tons of steel and iron and 30,000 cubic feet of timber were used. Work was completed in 1897, the 41.2m (135 ft) central tower holds a clock that was first heard during Queen Victoria’s birthday parade in 1897.
