This island was virgin until a few years ago when Thailand government decided to transform it into a touristic place. Ecologists say that all the beauty of the island is now gone due to the tourists and most of the coral reef is ruined because of the boats.
This island was the one used as a filming location for the Leonardo DiCaprio movie The Beach. 20th Century Fox was condemned, after some ecologist’s lawsuit, to restore parts of the island they used for the shooting.
