Three things to do when in Calcutta as I like to call it:
1. Go shopping- make the most of the street markets and don't forget to bargain.
2. Eat street food- Pau Bhaji, Jhal Moori some items that are absolutely delish. But remember if you can't take the heat, maybe ask them to make it less spicy.
3. Watch a Bollywood film- when in India! An absolute must do.
The Maidan is a large green lung in Calcutta, like Central Park in New York.
It is more than 3 km long, but looks abandoned, it is highly recommended, especially on Sunday stroll through the park and see how Indian families enjoy their day off free.
Inside the area, is the Fort William, and old fort built in 1758.
Today it is used by the army and it is forbidden to visit.
Already flamboyant, this old colonial palace is the largest museum in the city. Inside you can see pieces from Hindu bronze to the contemporary period.
Don´t miss the life-size reproduction of the Barnhut Gateway, 2nd century BC.
