This park is why I miss living in New York so much. You’ve got the most amazing city in the world and also these huge, beautiful scenes out of nature. This park does a fine job at showcasing what New York nature has to offer with its waterfalls, gorges, thick forestry, and natural swimming pools. There’s a nice, two-mile hiking path available that can be slightly challenging (aka not boring) at times. The natural swimming hole is amazing in the summer.
Things to do
Really cool independent theater with very limited seating. If you’re in to very intimate theater then you must come here – there are only seventy-three seats. If you’re in the front row expect to be right next to the actors. They show a variety of quality plays here but the real charm lies in their Rachel Lampert musicals. They’re the real show-stealer. They have drinks and pastries at the concession stand that you’re allowed to bring into the theater with you.
This is a really impressive museum campus located on the grounds of Cornell University. Their permanent collection houses more than 30,000 pieces of art that weigh heavily in European and American prints (drawings and photographs). As a graphic design artist, I especially liked their history of graphic art exhibit. They’ve got “art-all-stars” in here, too: Warhol, Picasso, Lichtenstein, Matisse, Hopper, etc. The building itself is quite handsome and the top floor provides some amazing views.
