Nathan street

recommendation by limalimon

Nathan street is one of the main streets that goes from Tsim Sha Tsui district to Mong Kok.

There you can see the mix between tourist and local people, thousands of shops and people trying to sell to you absolutly everything you can imagine.

At the begining of the steret you have to visit the shops inside Chunking Mansions, a building with the cheapest places to sleep in Hong Kong, wierd, really wierd :)

With its sparse minimalist interiors and tasteful, unique choice of artists on exhibit, it's no surprise that Galerie Libraire has found a dedicated following among the well-heeled transcultural aesthetes that mill about the Star Street area.

Bonus points for including an "open office" integrated with the exhibition space, which makes the whole place seem more approachable for casual guests and prospective buyers alike.

This multi-storey complex near the Wan Chai harbor-front has several exhibition and performing arts spaces, hosting a rotating selection of works, from the comfortably middlebrow to contemporary 'high' art, curated for newcomers in accessible ways.

The Pao Galleries are the main visual arts space here, while film screenings, dance, and drama are mostly hosted in the Shouson Theater. Well-stocked arts-oriented bookstore too.

The on-site cafe is a bit of a rip-off. We're a captive market!
