Hersheypark

recommendation by mick

This is a cute amusement park located in a pretty rural part of Pennsylvania. The entire park is themed after Hershey’s candies so expect to run into a few life-size candy bars and/or Reese Pieces characters. They have eleven roller coasters ranging from kiddie-appropriate to adult, fear-seeking ones. Their newest ride, Fahrenheit, goes up to 121 feet before dropping – super terrifying and fun! The only problem with this park is the steep prices. $10 for parking? Yikes.

You can’t come all the way to Hershey without doing this tour. First of all, it’s free! Basically you take a trolley tour through a "factory" and learn about the entire chocolate making process in a fun, animated way. It actually reminded me a lot of Epcot, Disney World. What you’ll notice first is the overpowering smell of chocolate – it’s everywhere! I’d like to know how they push it through the vents. It’s located right next to the amusement park so spare and hour and check it out.

The Hershey Story

recommendation by mick

While Hershey’s Chocolate World shows you how chocolate is made, this museum focuses on the man behind the entire town – Milton Hershey. This is a pretty interesting museum that can entertain adults and children for about two hours. We came here when in town for the weekend visiting the park and had a really good time. You’ll definitely acquire an education on the entire Hershey industry, learning about products I’m sure you never heard about. Admission is $10.

Hershey Sweet Lights

recommendation by mick

This is a fun and unique way to spend an hour in your car. Hershey Sweet Lights opens up in December and stays open through January. Basically for $20 (per car) you drive though two miles of wooden area, checking out 600 animated light displays and other decorations. It’s really fun and reminds me of when I was a kid and we’d drive around the neighborhood checking out xmas lights. If you don’t live somewhere like that or used to, I recommend checking this out for old times sake.
