White Strand beach is small sandy beach located just 2km from Miltown Malbay. This blue flag beach can also be found close to Lahinch. The shoreline is very rocky - if you’re adventurous you’ll love it! There is a good deal of walks around the headland here too! This is a wild scary secret but its a really good place to be !!
Things to do
This place is outstanding, amazing, awesome, fantastic and out of this world. Its hard to put it all into words to be honest but for the first time in my life I feel like a grain of sand on the beach or a new born bird-man who is just about to fly for the very first time. This really is an eye opener !!
The Burren, from the Gaelic word Boireann is an area of limestone rock covering imposing majestic mountains, and tranquil valleys with gently meandering streams. With its innate sense of spiritual peace, extraordinary array of flora and wildlife, and megalithic tombs and monuments older than Egypt's pyramids, the Burren creates a tapestry of colour and a seductively magical aura which few people leave without wanting to experience again.
On Arthur's Row in Ennis, sits a small, unassuming, structure. Once a school it is now the home of the Clare Museum. I spent a full day in this small museum studying every artifact and historical gem. I learned about Ennis & other Clare towns, as well Brian Boru, last high king of Ireland, and his descendents, the O'Briens; John Philip Holland, the inventor of the submarine; and Shannon's role in navigation and as an airport. It is an absolutely fascinating, highly overlooked gem of a museum.
The ennis friary is the town's main attraction. founded by the franciscans in the 1240's. There were several additions to the friary in the 14th and 15th centuries. The friary has some interesting medieval carvings as well as the macmahon tomb with it's alabaster panels.
