Antonio Machado's grave (Collioure cemetery)

ADD TO MY TRIP

The great Spanish poet Antonio Machado, who was born in Sevilla and evacuated to France by the dictator Franco, lays in the Cotlliure cemetery.
The cemetery is right next to one of the few public parking of the town. You'll easily recognize his grave, covered with Spanish republican flag and flowers.
He has left many important poems and his phrase "the two Spains" referring to the left-right political divisions that led to the Civil War, is still often used to describe the political situation.
