Garinish, is a little island in a beautiful and tranquil place. In 1919, the English landscaper Harold Peto was commissioned to create an elaborately planned Italianate garden, with classical pavilions and myriad unusual plants and flowers. The island's mild microclimate allows a number of sub-tropical plant species to thrive here. George Bernard Shaw is said to have written St. Joan under the shade of its palm trees. Its a great day out and you will not regret the little boat trip either :)
